THE MALAY'S SHORT STORIES
The Malay race is the racial category encompassing peoples of the Southeast Asian countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam, as well as the southern parts of Thailand and the Philippines. The Malaysian Malays form the constitutionally defined group of Muslim Malaysian who predominantly resides in Peninsular Malaysia (formerly known as Malaya). They are rather advanced in terms of politics, education, and culture. They are lovely, fun, and peace-loving people who speak and write in the Malay Language. (The language is also often referred to simply as Malay). The modern Malaysian Malay civilization is a product of a long interaction between the indigenous culture with those of the Chinese, Indian, and Middle-Eastern. Subsequently, it underwent further interaction with the west, especially the Portugese and British. Modern time interaction is with the American. Hence, the Malay stories are very global in nature, stretching from top-spinning and kite-flying to reality tv. I am a Malaysian Malay who writes short stories and poems in Malay. I live in Malaya. Through this web-page, I am providing the rest of the world an opportunity to learn about the life, behaviors, thinking, and dreams of the modern Malaysian Malays through reading short stories that they write. The short stories are carefully selected based on their relevance and good literary values. Above all, they are all very interesting to read. They were originally written in Malay and had been carefully rendered in English for your benefit. |
